What your roof has been through
Enter a ZIP code and the year the house became yours. Explore the covered years in our 2016–2025 archive as a printable area report. Dates outside that period are not assessed.
Why the date is the whole game
The most expensive mistake in hail claims is not a badly filled form. It is finding the damage three years later. At that point the date of loss is contested, the suit limitation in the policy may have run, and the identical physical damage is now called wear and tear.
That is what this tool is for: turning "I think there was hail at some point" into a list of specific days with a source attached. What to do next is in how long you actually have to file.
Common questions
What is this report actually for?
Most people go to their insurer saying there was hail 'sometime last year'. This gives you specific dates, sizes and a source anybody can check. That is the difference between an assertion and a documented date of loss.
Will an adjuster accept it?
As evidence of when hail fell over your area, yes — the source is NOAA's public database and it is cited on the printout. It does not prove damage to your roof; only an inspection does that, and claiming more would hurt you rather than help.
Why is this free when others charge for it?
Because it is a reformatting of public data. Charging for that seems like a weak business to us. We make money only when you ask to be put in touch with a contractor — and that has its own page explaining exactly how much.
Do you store what I enter?
No. The whole thing runs in your browser against static files. Neither the ZIP nor the year goes anywhere.
What if I bought the house after the big storm?
Then it is still useful, just differently. Hail damage to asphalt does not leak for years, so damage from before you bought may well still be up there. Your policy will not cover it, because the loss predates the contract — which makes knowing about it more important, not less, especially before you pay for a roof yourself.
